Voter Awareness Street Play and Rally

Venue: Chimur, District Chandrapur
Organizers: National Service Scheme (NSS), Rastrasant Tukdoji Mahavidyalaya, Chimur and Chimur Municipal Council (Jointly)
Objective:
To create awareness among voters about the importance of voting in the context of the Maharashtra Municipal Council Elections 2025, with special focus on motivating young voters and citizens from rural areas to achieve 100% voting.
Program Outline:
- Inauguration:
The rally commenced at 9:30 AM from the premises of Rastrasant Tukdoji Mahavidyalaya. It was inaugurated by the Acting Principal of the college, Dr. Prafulla Bansod, in the presence of the Chief Officer of the Municipal Council.
- Rally Route:
College → Tehsil Office → Bus Stand → Main Market → Fort Square (Killa Chowk) → Back to College (approximately 3 km).
- Participation:
– NSS Volunteers: More than 100
– Students (boys and girls) of the college
– Teaching and non-teaching staff
– Officers and employees of the Municipal Council
Total Participants: Approximately 150–160
- Slogans and Materials:
– “Cast your vote, strengthen democracy”
– “Your vote, your power”
– “Let every family member vote”
– “Don’t skip voting, let’s build the nation”
Volunteers carried placards, banners, flags, and pictures promoting voter awareness.
- Street Play (Pathnatya):
After the rally, a 15-minute street play titled “The Harm Caused by Not Voting” was performed by NSS volunteers in the college auditorium. The play effectively depicted the future problems faced by those who abstain from voting, successfully touching the audience emotionally.
- Conclusion:
The rally and street play concluded at Killa Chowk. The Municipal Council expressed gratitude to all participating students and staff. The Principal and the Chief Officer appealed to everyone, saying, “Now it’s not just about rallies; it is essential to actually go to the polling booth and vote.”
Impact and Observations:
– Citizens of Chimur city gave a spontaneous and enthusiastic response to the rally; many shopkeepers and residents came out on the streets and cheered the slogans.
– Visible enthusiasm was observed among young voters regarding voting.
