Report on Cleanliness Program on the Occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti at Rashtrasant Tukdoji Mahavidyalaya, Chimur

On 2nd October 2025, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Mahavidyalaya, Chimur, celebrated Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, a cleanliness program was organized on the college premises. The event was jointly conducted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) departments. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students actively participated in the program.
Objectives of the Program:
- Promoting the Ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri:
To disseminate Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of cleanliness and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s ideals of simplicity and honesty among students.
- Encouraging the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan:
To foster a sense of social responsibility through cleanliness and contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission).
- Environmental Conservation:
To promote environmental protection by maintaining a clean college campus and inculcating the habit of cleanliness among students.
- Fostering Collective Participation:
To enhance the spirit of teamwork and leadership qualities among students, faculty, and staff.
- Creating Awareness:
To educate participants about the social, health, and aesthetic importance of cleanliness.
Program Structure:
- Guidance Session:
The program commenced at 8:00 AM with a guidance session. Dr. Prafull Bansod, the Acting Principal of the college, addressed the students, focusing on the following points:
►The relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of cleanliness in modern times.
►The inspirational simplicity and integrity of Lal Bahadur Shastri as a model for students.
►The social, health, and environmental benefits of cleanliness.
►An appeal to students to adopt cleanliness as a habit and promote it in their villages and communities.
This session instilled inspiration and enthusiasm among the students for the subsequent cleanliness drive.
- Cleanliness Drive:
Following the guidance session, the cleanliness drive began at 9:00 AM on the college premises. NSS and NCC students cleaned the college courtyard, classrooms, library, laboratories, garden, and pathways. The cleanliness activities focused on:
Waste Collection: Collecting plastic, paper, and other waste from the campus and ensuring its proper disposal.
Grass and Tree Trimming: Removing unwanted grass and trimming trees in the campus area.
►Road and Pathway Cleaning: Cleaning the roads and pathways within the college premises.
The students were divided into groups and completed the tasks with enthusiasm and dedication.
- Role of Participants:
The program was organized by the NSS and NCC departments, with significant contributions from the following individuals:
►NSS Program Officers: Dr. Praful Rajurwade, Dr. Rajeshwar Rahangdale
NSS Co-Program Officer: Dr. Laxman Kamdi
Junior Section NSS Program Officer: Prof. Gajanan Chavan
Other Participants: All faculty members and non-teaching staff of the college.
NSS and NCC students actively participated in the cleanliness drive, with organizers providing proper guidance and task allocation.
- Conclusion:
The program concluded at 12:00 PM. Gratitude was expressed to all participating students and staff. Students who performed exceptionally during the cleanliness drive were appreciated.
Program Outcomes:
- Clean Campus:
The college premises were thoroughly cleaned and beautified. Removal of waste, plastic, and unwanted grass gave the campus a refreshed appearance.
- Awareness Among Students:
The guidance session enhanced students’ understanding of the importance of cleanliness and collective responsibility. They pledged to spread the message of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in their villages and communities.
- Leadership and Organizational Skills:
NSS and NCC students gained opportunities to develop leadership and organizational skills. Working in groups helped them understand the importance of coordination and responsibility.

The ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri were propagated, with students embracing the values of cleanliness and integrity.

The program fostered a sense of teamwork among students, faculty, and non-teaching staff, all of whom contributed to keeping the campus clean.

Conclusion:
The program organized on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti was highly successful. The guidance session inspired and raised awareness among students, while the cleanliness drive transformed the college campus into a clean and beautiful environment. The program not only contributed to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan but also fostered leadership qualities and a sense of collective responsibility among students.
